Abstract

 

Nigeria corruption has emanated from historical, economic, political, geographical, cultural and social factors. In all of these, corruption, and in particular official corruption remains a controversial issue in all aspect of governments since her amalgamation in 1914. Therefore, there exist unresolved approach in the policies of past governments to fight and minimize corruption both in the public and private sectors. This study examined public perception of president Buhari administration’s fight against corruption. It align the general perception of the public on President Buhari Administration’s fight against corruption, it align the effectiveness of President Buhari’S fight against corruption and corrupt practices in Nigeria, it also examined the change in corrupt practice during the President Buhari regime and also find a way forward on the fight Against Corruption in President Buhari’s Administration. This study adopted descriptive Survey design. The population of this study comprised of citizens in Ijebu-north local government area of Ogun State. The data generated in this study was analysed with the aid of descriptive statistic such as frequency distribution, simple percentage, mean score and standard deviation. Findings of this study among others revealed that the fight against corruption was holistic and transparent but it was agreed that the anti-corruption agencies are being bias on the fight against corruption because it is only the opposition of the current government that are being prosecuted by the anticorruption agencies, findings also showed that the fight against corruption have improved economic growth and development which has led to good governance. This study therefore recommends that the war against corruption should be holistic and transparent, the agencies of the anti-graft should ensure the immediate prosecution of people who are involved in corrupt practices, government should fund the agencies adequately so that they can carry out the processes of prosecuting culprits without hindrances.
