Abstract
Moringa oleifera is a plant that is commonly consumed as a nutritional supplement by some communities Africa. Contamination of moringa with toxic heavy metals could be deadly for consumers. However, some metal elements are essential for consumption in trace amounts. This study is an experiment on metal complexes on Moringa oliefera leaf extract.
The solvent used were acetone, ethanol and water. The reagent was 0.171M AgNO3. The ethanol and AgNO3 nanoparticle were characterized using FTIR spectra. Cold extraction process was used for the extraction process.
In this study, the spectrum shows O-H stretching due to the presence of an alcohol, the C=C weak is due to the Presence of an ketomes, the C=O bending is due to the presence of an carboxyl of ketome alkene. Also, the spectrum shows O=H stretching due to the presence of an alcohol, the C-H stretching is due to the presence of an alkane while the C=O stretching is due to the presence of an alkene.
It was concluded that IR spectrum of the nanoparticles occurred as a result of silver nanoparticles between the metal salt (Ag+) and Moringa oleifera leaves extract because of the absorbance indicating different ranges of the metal salt in the plant extract.
