Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine impact of corporate social responsibility on employee performance in a service sector with focus on two selected Nigerian banks. It specifically investigate the effect of ethical CSR activities on employees performance in a service sector; identify the different modes of corporate social responsibilities delivery and investigate the effect of environmental focused CSR activities on service sector performance. Survey research design was adopted by this study and the target population was 60 employees of First Bank Plc and Guarantee Trust Bank. Purposive sampling techniques was used to pick the sample size of the study. Data generated through questionnaire were analysed using descriptive statistics of percentage and inferential statistics of Pearson Correlation with the aid of statistical package for social science. Findings revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship between corporate social responsibility and employees’ performance in service sector. The implication of this study is that every organisation needs to be socially responsible in order to improve the morale of their workers. It was recommended that bank executive need to implement nice balance among effective CSR and human resource strategies to enhance employee performance through fostering career development culture.
