Abstract
This study examined entrepreneurial orientation and firms performance in Cadbury Nigeria Plc. It specifically established the relationship between innovativeness and firm performance; examined the relationship between risk taking and firm performance; investigated the relationship between proactiveness and firm performance; determined the relationship between competitive aggressive and firm performance; examined the relationship between autonomy and firm performance and established the relationship between entrepreneurship orientation and firm perform. The study was anchored on the classical theory of Resource-Based View (RBV) and Contingency Theory. Survey research design was adopted using questionnaire as the prime instrument to generate data. Five hundred and three (503) top management and middle management employee were drawn from Cadbury Nigeria Plc. Data generated were analysed using descriptive statistics such as simple percentage and inferential statistics such as Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient Multiple and Regression Analysis.
The findings of this study reveals that there was significant relationship between innovativeness and firm performance in Cadbury Nigeria Plc; there was significant relationship between risk taking and firm performance in Cadbury Nigeria Plc; there was significant relationship between proactiveness and firm performance; there was significant relationship between competitive aggressive and firm performance. Lastly, there was statistical significant relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance in Cadbury Nigeria Plc. Among other recommendation is that firms inclining activities that can be considered in the definition of entrepreneurship should have prominently differentiation based strategic tendency and it should perceive these activities as a long-run endeavour and exert effort to realize cultural and structural transformation supporting these activities in the organization.
