Abstract

The study examines the impact of organisational politics and turnover intention in a manufacturing firm using Guinness Nigeria Plc as case study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study was drawn from employee of Guinness Nigeria Plc. The sample size for the study comprised of fifty (50) staff that were selected through random sampling techniques. Questionnaire was used to solicit information from the participants. Data generated from the study were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings from the study revealed a high and positive correlation between organizational politics and turnover intention (r=.83). It shows that there is a statically significant relationship between organizational politics and employee turnover intention in Guinness Nigeria Plc. It was concluded that organizational politics is one of the most powerful factors in employees’ efficiency and effectiveness. Among other recommendations is that employees should endeavour to understand and respond strategically to the general political behaviour in their organizations to maximize their job satisfaction and minimize incidence of intent to leave.
