Abstract
A variety of microorganisms can be found in swimming pools, which may be introduced in the pool water in a number of ways. The microbial analysis of three different swimming pool in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State Nigeria were studied using standard procedure techniques. Microorganisms recovered from the samples are Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, Shigella species, Streptococcus feacalis, Bacillus species, Enterococcus species and Vibro cholerae. The total coliform count of the water samples ranged from 0.88 × 103 Cfu/ml to 2.89 × 103Cfu/ml. The total viable count of the swimming pool water samples ranged from 0.50 × 103 CFU/ml to 2.40 × 103CFU/ml. These microorganism recovered are not friendly with human environment and it is therefore recommended that swimming pool water should properly treated in order to reduce microbial loads that can be threat to human health.
