Abstract

This study investigated teachers’ knowledge and disposition to Peace Education in Ijebu-north Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria.

            The research adopted a descriptive research design. The total population for the study comprised of sixty junior secondary school social studies teacher in the selected area of the study and the instrument used for data collected was a questionnaire.

            The findings of the study showed that teaching are becoming more feministic as there are more female social studies teachers teaching social studies at JSS classes in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria. It also indicated that there is no significant difference between the less experience and more experience social studies teacher disposition to peace education in JSS Social Studies. The study revealed younger and older JSS social studies have no significant difference in their disposition to peace education in JSS social studies. It also revealed there is no significant relationship between male and female social studies teacher’s disposition to peace education concepts in JSS social studies.

            The study therefore recommended that Government should organize seminars for social studies teachers on the need to be active in the use of different learning methods for the teaching of social studies, most especially the cooperative learning.
