Abstract
This study specifically examines implication of teaching profession and teachers’ registration council of Nigeria for Integrated Science education. The study highlighted the teachers’ understanding of teaching as profession, the implication of teachers’ registration council of Nigeria on the teaching of Integrated Science and also examine the attitude of Integrated Science teacher to Integrated Science and Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria. The study adopt descriptive survey research design using questionnaire as the prime instrument. The sample size for the study comprised of forty-two (42) Basic Science teachers drawn from twenty-one (21) secondary schools in Ijebu-north local government area. Data generated were analysed using simple percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study showed that teacher have the understanding of teaching as a profession; the implication of TCRN on teaching of Integrated Science in Nigeria. The third research question revealed that teachers have positive attitude to Integrated Science and TRCN. TRCN have enhanced the teaching profession of Integrated Science, the body have improved teaching of Integrated Science, monitoring of teaching of Science is encouraging, and TCRN have influence teaching profession through the programme. Also, teachers have positive attitude to Integrated Science and TRCN. Among other recommendations is that the Teachers Registration Council Nigeria (TRCN) should be empowered financially and legally to play this role.
