Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the attitude of junior secondary school teachers to multicultural and intercultural education in Ijebu East Local Government, Ogun State.
The research adopted a descriptive research design. The total population for the study comprised all junior secondary schools teachers in Ijebu East Local Government area of Ogun State and the instrument used for data collected was a questionnaire.
The findings of the study showed that teachers were quite sure that they can offer value so that it supports the development of identity also for a pupil from another culture. The study indicate that there was significant difference in the attitude of teachers to multicultural and intercultural education according to gender. It also showed that there is no significant difference in the attitude of teachers to multicultural and intercultural education according to teaching experience. The study revealed there was also no significant difference in practice of teachers to multicultural and intercultural education It also revealed there was no significant difference in role of teachers to multicultural and intercultural education
The study therefore recommended that School administrators should continue to encourage teachers and counsellors in school in order to improve their attitude to multicultural and intercultural education and Greater clarity on the goals and strategy components of multicultural and intercultural education is needed, as well as clear advice for teachers on how these intersect with equity, in order to continue to improve its impact on education, most especially the students.
