Abstract
The recent development in information and communication technology provides opportunities for bridging the gap between the government and the citizens. This study therefore examines the impact of e-government on the growth and development of Nigeria with focus on Ijebu-ode and Ijebu-north local government area of Ogun State. The study highlights the impact of e-government of governance service delivery, the trend of e-government adoption in Nigeria public sector, the challenges of e-government adoption and how it can affect the growth and development of Nigeria economy.
The study employed descriptive research design using questionnaire to gather information from one hundred and twenty-five (1250 staff of Ijebu-ode and Ijebu-North local government in Ogun State, Nigeria. The statistical method of analysis include simple percentage, frequency count, mean score and independent t-test.
The findings of the study implied that the increase in e-system by the government leads to increase in service delivery by the government agencies. It also showed that e-government has the potential of providing high quality government services to citizens and businesses.
It is therefore recommended that Nigeria should strive to keep abreast of new innovations in the international community so as to meet up with standards which will in-turn increase service delivery by government.
