Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyse the impact of radio programming on national development (A study of FRCN Ibadan and FRESH FM). To achieve this, the researcher adopts descriptive research method was used. The population of this study consists of Fresh FM and Federal Radio Corporation in Nigeria (FRCN) staffs and the people that dwell within Lagelu Local Government, Oyo State. The total population staff of both radio stations is 36, whereas Iyana Church community and Monatan community has total population of 19,392. This population is specifically chose to ensure that data collected are accurate. The researcher employs the use of two namely stratified sampling techniques and purposive sampling techniques, the research instrument use for data collection in this research work is questionnaire. Research finding showed that a great number of people listen to FRCN programmes and FRESH FM programmes and the result of the study indicate that radio play a vital and effective role in information dissemination on development of the society. To this end the researcher recommended that radio programmes should be directed towards rural oriented programmes.
