This study investigated the role of non-government organizations in peace building with focus on Justice, Development and Peace Commission in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area. It specifically examined how non-governmental organization has been promoting peace in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area; investigated the various techniques employed by non-governmental organizations in peace building in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area and examined the challenges faced by non-governmental organization in peace building in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area.

            The research adopted a survey research design. The total population for the study comprised of one hundred and fifty residents of Ijebu Ode and the instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The data generated were analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency count, simple percentage, t-test.

            The findings of the study showed that JDPC help the community to manage the natural resources, they provides forums, through cultural activities to unite people of the community, JDPC hold public awareness seminar on peace building regularly. Result also found that JDPC organize lectures, workshops and seminars for citizens on peace and nation building. They provides peace building training for health and educational workers.

            The study therefore recommended that the NGOs should sponsor more social functions in Ijebu Ode local government. On public awareness in conflict resolution more forums should be sought to make the inhabitant of Ijebu ode have knowledge in peace building.
