Abstract
Computers and telecommunication system have become very important as delivery systems and productivity tools of electronic data and information. Nigerian banks have now realized that banking today requires prompt delivery of services, efficiency and the ability of customers to be served in any of their branches any part of the country, without any encumbrance. As a result of this, banks embarked on the use of Integrated banking application that can help them to provide efficient, comprehensive and nation-wide services to their customers. The focus of this study is on application of information and technology communication (ICT) on service delivery efficiency in banking business organization using Guarantee Trust Bank as case study. 30 staff was used for the study and Questionnaire drawn distinctly to suit the purpose of this study were administered to various respondents in a 4 point scale of Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagreed. The Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient statistical tool was used in testing the hypothesis by testing the hypotheses. Findings of the study revealed that there was significant impact of information and communication technology on service delivery. Also there was significant impact of ICT on performance of banking sector. It was concluded that the adoption of ICT in Nigerian banking sector has helped tremendously to improve the productivity of bank workers, leading to efficiency and effectiveness of operations and service delivery. Among other recommendations is that management of banks should procure quality ICT gadgets that will enhance efficiency and customers’ retention.
